🛑 What to Do When This Light Comes On
Step 1: Check if parking brake is fully released. If released and light stays on: check brake fluid level immediately — low fluid means a brake leak. Do NOT drive with low brake fluid — you may lose all braking ability.
⚠️ What happens if you ignore this light: Driving with this light on means either your parking brake is dragging (destroying your rear brakes) or you have a brake fluid leak (risk of complete brake failure).
🛠️ Technician's Notes: If the light flickers during turns your brake fluid is low and sloshing in the reservoir — top up immediately and check for leaks.
📚 Data Sources: Warning light information compiled from SAE J2402 dashboard symbol standards, NHTSA vehicle safety regulations, OEM owner's manuals, and ASE master technician field experience. Different vehicle makes may display slightly different symbols. Always consult your owner's manual for make-specific warnings.
